Macy's Passport Glamorama 2012 @ Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco
Macy’s Passport Presents Glamorama 2012 invaded San Francisco to honor three decades of fashion and compassion with this year’s theme The British Invasion: The Music Then. The Fashion Now! at the Orpheum Theatre. This iconic event, which also amazed audiences in Minneapolis, Chicago and Los Angeles, brought together musical performances, fall fashion, dance and the most glam after-party in town for one unforgettable evening—all to benefit longstanding partners AIDS Emergency Fund, Glide Foundation and Project Open Hand.
Headlining the event was multi-talented singer, songwriter, producer and musician Robin Thicke, who performed an acoustic, three-song set. Known for such hits as “Lost Without U” and “Sex Therapy,” Thicke has written and produced songs for more than 20 gold and platinum albums and most recently was featured on the ABC reality singing series “Duets,” where he served as a show superstar. Chart-topping pop duo Karmin, who shot to fame through their collection of YouTube cover songs, also took the stage. They most recently released original tracks “Brokenhearted” and the rap-fueled “I Told You So” from their debut album “Hello.” Macy’s iHeartRadio Rising Star contest winners Megan & Liz also performed, two Nashville-based, 19-year-old twin sisters penning infectious and inspiring pop anthems that have resonated with an entire generation of fans.
Fall collections featured on this year’s runway included Bar III, Calvin Klein, Diesel, Material Girl, Rachel Rachel Roy, Sean John, Tommy Hilfiger, and the exclusive, limited-edition Nicole Richie for Impulse collection.
Following the show, the evening continued downtown at the After-Party at The Asian Art Museum with a nod to British culture, food and design. Guest sipped bubbly in the American Express Champagne Lounge and specialty cocktails from Patrón Spirits, danced to music by DJ L, mingled with cast and crew, and tasted gourmet, British-inspired hors d’oeuvres by Taste Catering, with highlights like Fish ‘n Chips and a Pudding Buffet with modern twists on classic English desserts. Partygoers also created a personalized flip book courtesy of Office Max, had a consultation with a MAC Cosmetics expert before posing with the band for a Patrón Photo Shoot, grabbed a snack at the LUNA bar wall, and sample desserts from See’s Candies.
